Brief Applause: Guitar Slim

Watch the video related to Slim
If you think the odds of finding anyone to work part-time Friday and Saturday nights until 2:00 am are slim – you’re right! Every weekend for nearly 20 years, local legend Guitar Slim has played the same gig, bringing his brand of down-home blues to an east side Cleveland night spot, much to the delight of his loyal group of fans. The party starts at 9:00 as this cozy neighborhood bar gets transformed into a southern juke joint called the Cascade Lounge.

Comment made on September 29th, 2009 at 1:25 pmthe silver ps2's are released as limited editions ( like the pink ones)
main reason is for consumers to have a choice on what would suit thier homes better, or which they would prefer.
Both the black and the silver slims run the same there is no difference.
I just left New Orleans and got to play with Guitar Slim Jr. He plays down on Bourbon Street at Sing Sing. The best bar in New Orleans. The best blues musicians I have ever seen.
Comment made on September 29th, 2009 at 9:56 pmGuy's regular jeans are basically straight-legged and loose, dropping straight down from the top of the thigh.
Slim jeans are cut slimmer at the top of the thigh and thus have a smaller diameter leg all the way down.
Bootcuts taper down a little to the knee and then flare out a little to go over the top of a boot.
Flares taper more to the knee and then flare out wider at the bottom.
Skinny jeans are cut even slimmer at the top of the thigh than slim jeans, and are skinnier all the way down.
Most companies call their cuts w/e they want, so one company's "skinny" jeans are not as skinny as another's "skinny" jeans.
For example, Anchor Blue or Pac Sun skinny jeans have leg openings of about 15-16", while Levi's Skinny are about 14" and their Super Skinny are about 12".
Some skinny sk8er's jeans are more like straight legs, and others are almost skin–tight like girl's jeans, which usually are the best skinny jeans a boy can get. except for the 510s maybe….
But it's all your taste and what you prefer. If you're used to baggy jeans, then straight legs are "skinny"….
So, it depends on the leg opening diameter wether the jeans you're looking at are skinny or slim. Measure jeans you have on now, and then staple them to be like 15" or 13" inches in diameter, and see if you like that fit, keeping in mind the entire leg will be smaller.

Comment made on October 1st, 2009 at 12:42 amI had the opportunity to play at the Cascade for about a year in his band in the mid 80s.
He’s an excellent singer and guitarist and would let anyone sit in but if the music was wrong he would let you know. Slim is no relation to the original Guitar Slim. I’m pretty sure he got the name because he is slim and plays the guitar. I heard he is in bad health so I do not know if he is still performing.
hmmmmm…i suggest something that TONES ur arms, perhaps doing very LIGHT weights with good amt of repitition. As for pretty delicate look…im not sure if its possible if u have BIG BONES..
Comment made on September 30th, 2009 at 9:56 pmCut out carbs and you will slim down some in a week. No bread, rice, bagels, cereal and fruit. Stick with meats, fish, eggs, pork, Soy products with vegetables. Forget about carrots though because they have too much sugar. Also, if you're into salads look into Waldenfarms brand. They offer dressing with no calories or very low calories. Good Luck!

Comment made on October 1st, 2009 at 9:23 amYou should not be so concerned about your body image. All people should have strong and healthy bodies. Most people, girls included, do not do enough exercise to develop their body. Since you have, you should not feel bad about it. I knew a girl in HS who was a premier ballerina and her legs looked great. Real boys do not feel insecure about girls having good muscle development. Those same muscles will help you stand up straight and walk gracefully in your later years. Body and mind are gifts from God and you should make the most of both. Never feel bad about being your best.

Comment made on October 2nd, 2009 at 3:45 amYou already know the answer. But I will give you more specifics.
You need to do 3 things in order to lose weight and tone up.
1. Cardio- 30 minutes minimum 3-5 times a week. And not just walking for 30 or 40 minutes. Get the heart rate into you target heart rate whatever that may be for you.
2. Excercise- You need to lift weights. Muscle will help you burn more calories throughout the day and also help define you. You need to do 5 sets of 15 reps for each body part. Keep it general in the beggining. Bench Press for Chest, Curls for Arms, Shoulder Presses for Shoulders, Rows for Back. Tricep Extentions for Triceps, Squats for Legs, Lunges for Legs and Calf Raises. You will also see more definition in your legs because of the running( if thats what you choose to do for cardio) and then Crunces and Leg lifts for abs. You dont need to go crazy with the abs. when you lose the weight they will define themselves.
3. Diet- Its what everyone forgets and its the easiest thing to forget to do correctly. If you dont eat properly you might aas well forget about everything else. Portion size is very important.
You want to eat 5-6 small meals a day. You will want to eat lots of protiens and stay away from carbs late in the day. A portion of food is about the size of your fist. So a dinner could be something like a Grilled Piece of Chicken, A portion of broccoli and Water.
Drink lots of water, stay away from soda and beer and you'll be ok in no tume. Lots of luck!
Comment made on October 1st, 2009 at 10:37 pmPlease know the Eddie Jones(Guitar Slim)deceased, has a living son, Rodney Armstrong PKA Guitar Slim Jr. New Orleans born “grammy-nominated” — you can see him perform at the New Orleans Jazz/heritage fest or at some clubs in New Orleans, for what I understand he is playing regularly on Burbon St. However, I did enjoy and seeing this video.
